
Mrs. Sophie Velasko Walrath, widow of Alfred Walrath, died Monday afternoon at her home in Syracuse.
Born in Chittenango in 1850, she was the daughter of William Velasko, who was principal of the Yates Polytechnic
Institute for many years, and of Caroline Cady Velasko, whose family were pioneers in Madison county. Mrs. Walrath had been
a resident of Syracuse about 65 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Caroline E. Walrath; a son, William V. Walrath; one niece, Mrs. William H. Malam, Theresa,
and several grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the home with burial in Oakwood cemetery, Chittenango.
