Oneida Castle -- Herbert M. Simpkins, 74, of 25 Seneca Ave., died yesterday in a Utica hospital after a long illness.
He was born July 7, 1885, at East Florence, son of Mason and Carrie Groat Simpkins. He married Maude Zalsman on July 13, 1912, in Oneida.
He was a die cutter at Oneida, Lt., until his retirement in 1956. He was member of Sconondoa Lodge 814, AF&AM.
Besides his wife, he leaves two son, Herbert of Oneida Castle, Floyd of Mount Dora, Fla.; four daughters, Mrs. Herbietta Roundy of Cleveland, Mrs. Sara Marie Lyons of Utica, Mrs. Alice Linstruth of Sherrill, Mrs. Delores Korman of Vernon; several grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 tomorrow from the Craig W. Crowell Funeral Home, 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill, the Rev. James M. Barr, pastor of the Cochran Memorial Presbyterian Church in Oneida Castle, officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery.
