
Mrs. Harriet Kennedy, widow of the late Robert Kennedy, died at her home in this village Sunday, October 5th, following a
long illness. She was the daughter of Daniel and Jane Walrath and was born at the Walrath family home in the northwest part
of the village on August 26, 1839. She was educated at the Yates Academy and spent most of her life in this locality. On
May 25, 1871 she was married to Robert Kennedy at the home of her parents. He died a number of years ago. She is now
survived by one sister, Miss Cornelia Walrath of this place, four nephews, Alfred Walrath of Syracuse, Jesse Walrath of
Portland, Ore., Daniel Walrath of Chicago Ill., and D. Wells Walrath of this village, two nieces, Mrs. Harvey Woodworth
and Miss Florence Walrath of Syracuse. Mrs. Kennedy was a member and active and interested supporter of the Presbyterian
church of this village and as long as health permitted an active participant in all its affairs. She was highly regarded
by a large circle of friends. During her long and painful illness and won the admiration and affection of all by her
fortitude and courage.
Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Seth N. Genung, pastor of the Presbyterian church,
officiating, assisted by Rev. Harris B. Stewart of Auburn. Burial was made in Oakwood.
Those from out of town for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Walrath, Miss Caroline and William Walrath, Mrs. H.
Woodworth, Miss Katherine Woodworth, Miss Florence Walrath, Mrs. C.H. Brooks, Miss Ella Brooks, Mr. Colon Brooks and
Miss Blanche Lewis of Syracuse and Mrs. H.L. Gay of Glassboro, N.J.
