Mrs. William T. Plant died Thursday evening at her home, 222 Harrison street. She was a resident of this city for 43
years. Mrs. Plant was born in Chittenango, Madison County, on April 29, 1838, and was the daughter of John L. Walrath of
that place. He was a thrifty and respected farmer and business man and before the Civil War represented his district in
the Assembly.
In 1866 she was married to Dr. William Tomlinson Plant of Marcellus, who became well known in later years among the
older physicians of the city. He died in October, 1898. The young couple soon moved to Syracuse and became connected with
the First Presbyterian church.
Mrs. Plant has since been identified with many of the interests of the church, including the Sabbath school and the
missionary societies.
For many years she was a teacher in the old "Scattergood Mission" in Monroe street. She is survived by a brother,
Abram J. Walrath; a sisters, Mrs. Sara Benedict of Verona, and a son, Dr. John Walrath Plant of this city.
Services in the chapel of the First Presbyterian church will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow by the Rev. Dr.
George B. Spalding. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.
